Where boats move in Delaware
Inland Bays are the heart of it. Indian River, Rehoboth and Little Assawoman feed the yards around Millsboro, Dagsboro and Lewes, and the fleet is mostly trailerable center consoles with a good number of larger sportfish out of Indian River Marina. Lewes and Cape Henlopen handle the deeper draft boats and offer the best truck access in the lower county.
North of the canal is a different market. The Delaware City and Port Penn marinas, plus the yards along the C&D Canal, serve boats headed to the Chesapeake as much as the ocean. Access there is good — Route 9 and Route 13 take a wide load without drama.
The constraint is Route 1 in season. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, beach traffic through Dewey and Rehoboth turns a twenty-minute run into two hours, and some oversize moves are effectively off the table on summer weekends. Ask for a weekday morning and the schedule holds.

Most moves are short-haul: over the bridge to Maryland's Eastern Shore, north to southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, or south toward Ocean City and the Virginia line. Long runs to Florida route down US-13 to I-64 or across to I-95. DelDOT permits are quick to get and cheap by regional standards, which makes Delaware an easy staging state for a longer trip.
Where a hull is not worth the cost of the haul, boat donation is a cleaner exit than trucking it somewhere to sit again.

Boats coming out of long storage are the ones worth pricing carefully. If a hull has sat for six seasons and the quote to move it is climbing past what it would sell for, donating the boat is a cleaner exit than trucking it somewhere to sit again.
